Russell has helped many firms with setting strategy, especially for strategies that involve globalization or the use of analytics. At Kellogg, he is the founder and Academic Director of the Global Leadership program, which is an executive education program, designed to guide executives on developing and executing global strategies. Russell has deep international experience and teaches on the topics of international business in the Kellogg MBA program through the classes of Global Initiatives in Management and Global Lab, experiential classes that take MBA students to international markets for study. Russell has specific interest and expertise in business in Latin American and the Middle East. Russell also regularly teaches at the Indian School of Business in India and the Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration in Thailand.

He also offers courses on the strategy of deploying analytics in the enterprise, including the IT Portfolio Management executive program and the Strategic Data-Driven Marketing program, through the Kellogg School of Management.
